Worst winter for decades: Record-breaking snow predicted for

Post by cordyman » Sat Oct 12, 2013 2:55 pm

Yes another headline grabber! I tend to facepalm the keyboard now as opposed to take any notice of this, but I think this may be the first shock factor story of the autumn

Those articles seem to sell good. If they had told you it would be a ordinary mild UK winter nobody would buy that newspaper.

Its all about sensation.

Was this taken from an English edition of a Spitzbergen newspaper?

Are you up a hill near Sheffield?

I've looked at Sheffield temperatures on a number of occasions when you have said you were cold and they have seemed warm enough to me.

Just had a look for a Wunderground site ... but there are none in Sheffield  and the only one showing is a good few miles North (half way to Barnsley) :

but their minimum temperature last night was 11.3C - so i reckon you must be in a cold spot? MOVE? !!
