On Monday the sun will rise 5 deg. higher than on the Winter Solstice 
The difference is obvious when you look at how high the sun is at solar noon, I can see the difference in the garden and the terrace in the office where I can sit in the sun longer and in spots previously shaded by the buildings.
It also feels warmer. The concrete slab by the house wall, which I painted black in the autumn, will soon start producing heat for the potted plants and the bed
