Yet another Storm 26/27-12-2013

Post by Dave Brown »

Another storm approaches from the west. There will be high winds over much of the country with gusts to 70 or 80mph over the north west.

Flooded parts of the south will get a further 20 to 30mm of rain, prolonging or even worsening current flooding.

This is wind for 9am tomorrow.
Best regards
Dave

This is already on a par with the last storm and very worryingly is set to worsen considerably. I am honestly fearing structural damage before the 24 hours are out.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

I agree, this storm is bad I'm sure the poly house will have blown across the garden by the morning.

The wind is swirling and the rain is quite heavy, but shouldn't be as bad as the last one down here luckily

didnt really sleep well last night, the noise of the wind smashing into the side of the house and plants getting trashed about kept me awake :(

It doesnt sound as bad now i'm awake but i'll try and get some video footage, how the polyhouse survived i'll never know

I can't be the only one preferring the cold and dry to these constant storms icon_scratch

My perception is... not nearly as bad here as last Monday, which may be more to do with wind direction rather than speed. Highest recorded gust overnight was 61.6mph (102.0km/h) but has calmed down to around 20mph now.
Best regards

We're getting a battering here at the moment. It's by far the worst of the season so far, we escaped lightly with the others. This one was predicted to be bad up here though and at least the rain seems to be staying away!

With top gusts of only 61mph here this is nowhere near as bad as 2007-2008. Not out of the normal range for storms here

Been by far the worst here this winter and its been bad already. Got up to find a potted tree fern horizontal but fortunately no damage. My poly house is all but in tatters. Had I not literally roped it down it would be long gone. Wheelie bins gone!....fence posts snapped! Utterly sick of it now. I'm almost wishing for frost and snow. ...almost!
