First Air Frost of 2014 for some? (14/02 - 18/02)?
Re: General Potential for Cold increasing.
My only frost was -0.8C, so I don't think it counts as a harsh one
Next week we're back to double figures.

Don,t get to complacent?
Down here on the south coast we can still get severe weather right up to mid April.
It only needs a change of wind direction to the north east and its 1947 all over again{all forum members should look up that winter].
Quite often down here in Southampton we get our coldest and frostiest weather from February to late March as the skies are often clear and sunny at that time.
Also I am not forgetting the coldest nights ever recorded in this City once occured in that Month although it was a long time ago it could happen again anytime [March 3rd 1938.-11.9c in the City center].
Just be aware.

Re: General Potential for Cold increasing.
7 airfrosts,
1 in Nov,
3 in Dec and
3 so far in Jan.
Coldest was in Jan at -2.5C and the Musa basjoo is still flowering, but they are having leaves ripped off by gales. It lost 4 leaves in the storm front of 25th Jan.

Ooohh, Billdango, it made me shiver to read your post!
You're so right though, I can remember being caught out in late spring in the past.
Not unwrapping my Dicksonias yet anyway.

It's not really is it?Re: General Potential for Cold increasing.
Days are getting longer and I'm feeling even more positive that we will get away with it this winter.

Re: General Potential for Cold increasing.
This is the problem when no dates are added. It's like me posting "It's my birthday tomorrow" only one day a year will it be correct.Yorkshire Kris wrote:It's not really is it?Re: General Potential for Cold increasing.

Thankfully there is no sign of any cold hitting us. In fact America is getting even colder which will fuel further storms from theaAtlantic. It all bodes very well although not if you live where floods are likely.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

Agree Kris, winter is done and dusted, from my overly optimistic viewpoint. Nothing can come along and pose a threat now. I'm verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry confident! Bring on the hotness

It is not the policy to have misleading topic titles, and without some way of showing that it is current, it will mislead.stephenprudence wrote:or.. you could use some common sense and look at the date the post was posted (in conjunction with reading the post itself)! Re: General Potential for something increasing.
it's not that important Dave.. there really are more pressing matters in the world than old topic titles.
You know it's not cold, I know it's not cold.. we're not stupid and we weren't born yesterday so lets enjoy the frost free nature of this winter, as there is no cold on the horizon as it stands.

Re: General Potential for something increasing.
I think this would be a fitting time to quote some posts from "those weather forums" and the incited rage from such a mild winter
