Super fog this morning' sun breaking through now though

It's 18C here and freakin hot in the sun, I took off as much as was appropriate on the office terrace, i.e. down to shorts and a t-shirt (shoes and socks off) and still sweated.

Sunny all day yesterday and so far today as well.

Although yesterday had a chilly breeze today is much warmer at about +16c.

I saw 2 brimstone butterflies this morning as well in my garden.

Plants all covered. It said in one paper that we can expect loads of sun in the next few days, much drier.

It was sunny here and reached 18.7C.

Sunday looking good with 18C and sun.

Tonight is going to plummet to 5C, but after that the lowest low in the BBC forecast is 8C.

These last two days have been an absolute write off... Nasty wintry weather. However I went hill walking today and above the inversion and fog it was in the high teens at 450 metres above sea level thanks to a foehn from Snowdonia.

On the west side of the Pennines, it didn't burn off - it was continuously replenished by new fog drifting in off the Irish Sea. That was the problem for Stephen.

A low of 4.4C last night, breakfast already warm enough to be enjoyable, wall-to-wall sunshine and 17C forecast by BBC for today

So did I! I thought you were being a little harsh.

So turns out my pessimistic forecast for the week was closer to the mark than some expected.. The next turn in this saga seems like a polar maritime influence for the north and west initially, then spreading more southwards. Generally therefore showers/wintry showers, sun and feeling rather chilly after the mid-week.. some frost about too, temperature probably just below average, but with conditions quite akin to what you would expect in April (albeit not quite as springlike). However, for most away from the north and west dry 'til at least the middle of next week, warm in the south and east intially, but staying much cooler further north and west
