problem staying here
problem staying here
Dave/Aido, Im not sure if anyone else has this problem or its my end but I come on here at each visit and its fine for a while but then it goes ultra slow and the only way I can get anywhere is by closing the site and reopening it, the first click on a thread is fine but then freezes again.
Im not getting this problem on other sites, just on here.
Any ideas ?
At first I thought it might be heavy traffic but it happens way too much for that.
Im now having to pick threads that interest me only.

Re: problem staying here
Oddly enough i have the same issue. I remedy it by closing IE altogether and then restarting . HT works ok after that
Re: problem staying here
Sounds like the usual IE is crappe problem. Does it happen if you use Firefox or Google Chrome?
Re: problem staying here
I'm using Opera, no problem
Tried F.F 4 rubbishingly slow, I have gone down a version now.
I only use I.E for Win update then close it.
I don't know what host your using or if you a domain. I was struggling once over and complained to 02 who said it was my host. Host said do this:
Click Start > Click Run > Type cmd Press Enter > Type tracert domain.com Press Enter. Apparently you can see how many times your domain went 404.
HTH

Re: problem staying here
I'm running firefox and I'm not seeing a continual problem. occasionally it is slow for a few seconds.
IE 6 is out of support so if anyone is using that upgrade to another browser or later version ASAP. Being out of support does not sound bad but there is no security patching done, so any new vulnerabilities will not be plugged on that version.
Our hosting is done by a commercial hosting company in Docklands London. We are getting over 6 Million page loads per year, so maybe we are maxing out the hosting at some times

Im using chrome.
Sometimes its fine and then it just locks up all of a sudden.
I can close the site and come back in as many times as I like without problem but Im getting just one post each time after locking up.

Hi Adrian
Was it just on the day you posted this or is it all the time?
If it's all the time could you try clearing the cache by pressing ctrl + f5 at the same time whilst reading this post.

Thanks Aido, I'll give it a go with ctrl+f5 and see what happens.
To be honest I hadnt seen your reply and only came on to this thread to say that I was going to leave the forum for a while as its all but become unusable for me.
So far so good but thats just a couple of minutes

Re: problem staying here
Im running IE 9 and that is fine to be honest its quite fast. Make sure that you have got things like pointless add ons running like too many tool bars, things like that. as they can interfere quite a lot.
