Yep, pain in bottie this week.
Its maybe since the upgrade cus chat is not working either.
(If it aint broke, don't fix it) but you have to with PHPPbb, YOU *MUST* UPGRADE which Aidan has done. PHPbb is so easily hacked so it must be upgraded when ever a new upgrade is out.
Out of all the board softwares I have tried SMF comes top of my list for ease of use, easy to theme, and free.
Then comes second IPB but thats a pay for IPB. It used to be free when I had 1..3.

It may not be the forums fault, it could be your server being too busy due to peak times of the day.

Re: Something up with the forum running uber slow...
We have not upgraded the phpbb, we made a change to the banner on the website. Nothing to do with the forum as that banner has not changed. The fact that some of you are having speed problems, and others aren't suggests it is more local than our hosting server, so may be traffic on some ISPs in certain areas. There may be bottle necks in routing this would mean some site may work fine while others have a long ping time.
Also failures in the routing network may cause additional hops to get to the destination.
If you do a tracert to the destination IP address, sometimes you'd be amazed at the places you go en-route. One ISP we had used to route us through Germany to get to the US .

I used to have BT for my ISP,
That routed via Paris...terrible, and their support center in India was rubbish.
