Hi Everyone!

I have been growing Palm Trees for 30 years and I wish I had never started!!
Actually thats not true..

I have a great passion for cold hardy palms and Southampton is a great place to grow them.

Looking forward to talking to others with similar interests.

Hi Bill, and welcome :?:

I was going to say, it took you long enough to know you didn't like growing them, or was it paying for them

So what are you growing :?:

hello dave . as first on the list you deserve first reply . as i stated earlier i have been
growing mainly cold hardy palms for about thirty years and so far i have had great succsess with many different species. the first palms that i bought back in 1975 came from a palm center in linconshire. these were t fortuni and were only one foot tall ,now at least one of these is nearly 30 feet tall . most of the others are between 25 feet and 15 feet tall ,so now my house looks like it was imported from malaga. i will give a list of my other palms for now and we can discuss them later .
c humilis , c humilis vulcano. c humilis argentea .t wagnerianus ,15 feet tall .i have three of these at present .also i have a r hystix at about 4foot tall and spread .and a 8 foot s romanzoffianum . also a small w filifera in a pot which i will plant in a sheltered spot later on .unfortunatly i lost my Phoenix canariensis_CIDP last winter when the temperature dropped to a record -8c but i will replace it later this year .hope this is of some use to you ,we can have longer disscussions in the future .
ps you have a great garden ,i hope mine gets that good soon .
keep digging . bill icon_study icon_study icon_study

hi flounder . thats an interesting name ,don,t worry about your baby trachycarpus . all of mine were only a few inches high when i planted them back in the mid seventies .
allways remember tiddlys become biggelys? be patient and you will have a fantastic palm garden .
