Hi, Cheshire, Welcome. I shall be interested to see your garden progresses as I to have a coastal climate. icon_thumright

I've added quite a few new palms and yuccas since the last pictures, if its not raining when i get in from work tomorrow i'll update some more, if not wed looks a good day weatherwise here. The Canary Island date palms look like they're struggling, and i'm convinced the constant rain over the last month is going to take its toll. Lets hope for sun icon_sunny

Hello everyone, just thought I'd put some updated pictures from today, the garden is much more established and there has been some suprising growth rates despite the poor summer, I'm very pleased for my first garden and it looks so much better than the March and May pictures on this thread. Hope you like it, John. :)

Thought I would post a garden update in winter, to show how its getting on and what has been damaged. It looks like we should be over the worst of any cold now so lets hope things can start to recover. The lowest temperature I've recorded was -7.2c on December 13th, some plants have been fleeced but only on the harshest frosty nights.

Cordyline red star, has only had a thin fleece on a few nights this winter, looks in good condition really.

Agave Americana, has been fleeced on some nights, and a temporary rain/snow shelter since we had snow in mid January. It does have some damage that will hopefully grow out.

One of my two canary Island date palms, planted October 2012. Looking very tatty but the central growth from last summer looks in good shape.

Callistemon looking ok, does have some leaf burn but it should be ok. Had to cut off 4 inches of frazzled stems in December, it was the late autumn growth that was still tender.Hopefully it will still flower this year.

Things seem to be growing well despite the rubbish weather this summer. icon_thumright Keep up the good work.
