Advice for a newbie - Brahea Edulis?

Post by Mr Cee »

Hi, I wonder if someone could  please advise....
I have had this plant (which I believe is a Brahea Edulis?) for many years and nurtured it from small beginnings to the magnificent specimen it is today however.... I am becoming increasingly concerned about the suckers  (x4) that are growing from it.
I am not sure if these should be removed or should be left from a 'health' point of view to the main plant and also I can't decide if leaving them adds to the beauty of the plant or detracts from it
Any advice would be very welcome please
Thanks

This is not a Brahea edulis
Looks like a form of Chamaerops

It's a standard humilis isn't it? So suckering is natural and harmless.

That looks a very nice example of a Chamaerops, personally I think it looks great just as it is with the suckers attached, and it will become an even more magnificent looking specimen over the years. :D

Do you have any other exotic or interesting plants?
