Hi, I am Simon

Post by simonanthonydyer »

I live in U.K. and am growing lots of Phoenix Dactylifelia seedlings, and other Palms. Also Bananas, and other exotics.
I am hoping to run trials on Phoenix Dacty hardening in the U.K. obviously very tricky seeing they don’t like our U.K. winters, some Dacty had been planted on our South Coast but were dying or have died.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone in U.K. that has had success with these.

Thanks

Welcome to HTUK, Simon icon_cheers

There is virtually no existing information on the forum on Phoenix dactylifera as more than four years of material were lost in a website crash.

Details of your trials would be very welcome on the forum and should invite more comment and knowledge.

Difficulties with these in the UK outside centre on lack of heat and sun causing growth to all but stop. Some large specimens were planted out in front of a south facing building in Torquay a while ago proved an expensive failure.
