I need a man with a van - Essex to Cambs

Post by Simba »

I have come across a private seller that is selling large Trachycarpus Fortuneii, with very thick chunky trunks (80/90 cm of hairy bit) for £95 a pop.
As you can see from the photo these are solid looking palms and already in pots, so no digging required, just loading up needed.

This is where I have a problem, I only have an ordinary saloon car and could do with a partner who has a van, to collect them with, and bring them back to Essex.

The seller has 4 Trachys, I have reserved one, but would like a second, so there are 2 or possibly three still available.

Let me know if YOU are interested... :D

I am interested but don't have a van.
If you find someone we can pay to do the man/van thing let me know.

I'd go with Mo, a decent size estate / hatchback would get them in. Tie up the fronds and pot end at the back, back seats and passenger seat down. The fella in the photo ain't big.

I dont have an estate though....

I reckon I'd get one in my BMW quite easily, by the time its wrapped, de potted and laid down, but I'd have trouble with two.

If you and Steph are Essex based surely the cheapest option has to be to hire a van between you, around here you'll get a transit flatbed for £50

Saw a van today with "Van hire - rent me for a day for £30" painted on the side.

Do you need to get the kid in too? Is he part of the deal??

i know it wont cost you 50 quid in fuel to collect yourself but a pallet might be an easy option here,by the time you hire/borrow a van, they could be there in your garden with some of the overnight couriers and reasonable too.
