What's the best Varigated Bamboo?
Re: What's the best Varigated Bamboo?
I have seen plants down south here that clump and i have also seen plants that are fed and watered extremely well and they run like hell! Andrew, i find Paul whittakers two books he has published extremely useful if you like Bamboos. There are several other books on the market that would be of some assistance when selecting Bamboo.

This is my shiroshimba. It was just appearing into my garden from escaping from next door. This is how much growth it has put on in 5 full years with zero care zero watering and in 70-80%shade. It can't spread two much because of the concrete.

Give it a year or two and they will get it back again
Re: What's the best Varigated Bamboo?
I was wondering what variegated bamboo I had here for about a year, now I think I know, only small at the moment, now I know I ought to keep it potted.

Not as big leafed as that Simba, but is only a small division anyway, so could get bigger. I'll try to remember to show you a picture when I get out there again.Simba wrote:Is it big leafed Nige, like a stripey Psuedosasa..?

I see they are selling a 7.5L pot for £15.00. How big was the Bamboo? Do you have a photo of it? I'm very tempted for £15.00.Mr List wrote:http://www.thepalmhouse.co.uk/bargains.html

looked just like the one in the picture tbh
i will fetch my camera out tommorow if you still are not sure.
at that price i almost went with using that for my screen insted of pseudosasa japonica.
i still want one more so dont buy all his stock please
ps
any tips on a planter for two of these.
i have one in a 30ltr pot but it looks really ugly.
i am trying to use two layers of bamboo to provide a screen and a backdrop.
by using layers i hope to create extra depth and a false perspective of distance like an old 2d game backdrop

my arrow bamboo screen will be planted all across the far fence in the ground
my two (no buying all his stock ) shiroshimba will be just behind the green fence one either side of the middle post in some sort of pot or planter.
it is gravel on the otherside so i need something that will go nice with that.
