That blue sets your plants off very nicely Kris, some good stuff there , like the cycas . Your neighbour behind has what looks to be a very nice large fatsia. Ever thought of pinching it

I think it's a gonna ste. It looks totally fine apart from the most critical bit. The bit between the base of the stem and the basal palte has gone to mush .
I'm trying to recover it but think it's had it.

The neighbours kindly "gave me" a nice bamboo. Their large fatsia would be great if planted in more shade. Unfortunately its in full sun so is mainly a sickly yellow green colour

It was protected in the same way as all my red nanas but this year 3 out of four looked to have carked it. All been stored in th same way as the previous 4 winters. Probably two much moisture left in the plants for successful overwintering.

Cheers Simba, yes the palms have come through great. In hindsight I'm not that bothered about the nanas as they grow so quickly and can be replaced. The palms on the other hand are more expensive to replace and grow a lot slower so glad they have survived.

oh yes my other losses are a couple of eucalyptus seedlings, a small bamboo and a couple of Dicksonia antarctica. My serenoa repens looks to be going down hill too but 95% of my plants have survived so pretty happy

Thats the spirit Kris, and a similar story down here too.
I have been wiped out of pretty much everything other than Trachycarpus palms, Bamboo, Yucca, and my Cycads but as that is pretty much everything that I have planted out, it's not so bad really...

Cheers derrick. The only thing that is colourful in my garden at this time of year is the fence! Plenty of nice colourful fillers planned for summer... will update in July!

Was this left outside and protected or brought inside?
This is really my first year in plants/trees so I am trying to get as much info as I can.
I really like this nana you have and think I might get one myself.
