montbeliardi and soil warming cable

Has anyone ever tried this,I have a huge montbeliardi and am stuck as to where to overwinter it and wondering if this would work.be interested to see if anyone has experience of this with a 'Montbeliardii'.I know basjoo can take a lot of abuse but these are not as tough,although I had a small one surive that bat winter two years ago buried below some leaves.It survived but barely grew at all this year ,so tough it might be but very small.I have a brick garage but this gets as cold inside as it does outside.

As the loft is insulated it's quite cold up there
