Love this winter ! sorry, I mean hate

Post by eddie »

Had a look around the garden today and noticed things coming to life already! The passiflora is flowering, daffodils are coming up, magnolia is starting, what a great winter 'till now !

Fingers crossed the weather stays like this

Me too eddie, checked the plum and apple trees yesterday and there budding up nicely. I took cuttings from my Persicaria (red dragon) a few days ago as it hasn't died back! I also noticed an arum Lily is still in leaf  and all the daffs are up, not in flower yet tho. Great winter so far 8)

Same here. Besides the flowering stuff, I do have a very small "Maurelli" outside surround by some other plants and does look perfect.

Well the cards shown some signs for a possible change with some colder options. It's getting cooler with maybe a possible light frost because no wind and a clear air. For a good real frost period, is much more needed before that would be hitting us. Those cards are also far away with mean it can changes lots of times. If the 14 days forecast at this moment would be true then I don't should have any frost here. We will see...

Yep snow drops up around here (people down south thinking so what!) but they usually make an appearence in February! Daffs are about 2-3 inches high which I have never seen for a long time!

I have a HORRIBLE feeling that this is the calm before a winter snowstorm. Some weather models predicting a terribly cold easterly on its way BEFORE Feb icon_thumbdown icon_thumbdown icon_thumbdown

Good thinking tom?

A message to all forum members is don't get complacent as there is plenty of time for the dreaded big freeze.

So always be prepared and keep those hot water bottles ready.

I hope they are wrong, as I would like nothing more than to have one of the mildest winters after one of the coldest. Got everything crossed. icon_thumleft
