My garden history!

Post by Springy »

I have wanted to post a little bit of history about my own garden. I enjoy looking at the progress of other peoples gardens on this site and wanted to start my own post, not only for people to hopefully enjoy but also to give me something to keep up to date and to see what works for me, without trawling through pages of pictures on my computer.

I hope you enjoy!

As I can only add 10 pictures at a time, I will have to do it bit by bit!

Thats it for now as I can always post individual pictures at a later time to fill any gaps but I just wanted to do a timeline to show the last 2 years since we have lived here. icon_thumleft

I like how you've made the outlines with the rocks and then built the garden around that icon_thumleft because I think the shapes of borders and grass is so important in a garden.

Also im really impressed with the amount of colour and height you've made in the garden, great job! :D

Springy, do you have any problems with the football field at the bottom of the garden?

Thankyou for your comments! icon_cheers

These last few photos were taken last weekend. I have a few plants dotted about that I'm just making sure that they are in the right place before planting. It now means that I can post up to date pictures of progress and new purchases!

I'll see if I can do a few more this weekend.

The problem I have is that at the end of each year when all the annuals and herbaceous stuff dies down, it looks empty so now is the perfect time for me to add winter structure and interest.

( I don't know why but when I resize them, they tend to loose their crispness and look a bit washed out! Any ideas on how to solve this problem??!)

Very nice Springy.

Couple of what`s that questions?

1. The blue spikey in the last set of pics, yucca, dasylirion or something else?
2. And the plant next to your tetrapanex? (I have a vague recolection of brugmansia for some reason)

Cheers

Thanks Kata, I'll have a look later. It's a shame because they always look better on my computer than they do on the forum.

As for the footballs, the kids from the school behind sometimes jump over the fence and get their balls back but otherwise they have only done damage once. They snapped a dahlia off at ground level but it was nearly time to cut it down anyway.
We did have a ball kicked over once and it took over half an hour to find it. We walked past it loads of times as it was right in the middle of the Euphorbia (at the bottom of the 24th picture!)
