Average temperatures and sun hours for Southampton.

Post by billdango »

From the records of the Southampton Weather Center.

Average daily maximum for June 20.5c.
Average daily minimum for June 10.7c.

Average daily maximum for July 21.8c.
Average daily minimum for July 12.5c.

Average daily maximum for August 21.6c.
Average daily minimum for August 12.1c.

Average sun hours for June 216.5 hours.
Average sun hours for July 204.7 hours.
Average sun hours for August 210.5 hours.

So based on these records the average maximum so far this June is way below what it should be for Southampton?

Same here Tom?

Another grey day with well below average temperatures.

The best we could manage today was only +16c with a strong wind making it feel even colder.

We still haven't yet managed one day with a normal June temperature of +20.5c.

Although the garden dosen't look that bad some of my exotics aren't even growing yet so its pretty poor show so far.

Oddly enough the Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in St Denys is romping away with 4 big new leaves already?

So this cold summer is not affecting everything.

As it stands we are facing a month where 20C may not be reached in some parts. If that occurs, then records will potentially fall once again. I doubt there is a June that has gone it's entirety without 20C being recorded somewhere in lowland England and Wales since records began. Yet for some sites it is very conceivable this records could be smashed to pieces this June, should the unthinkable happen. (bear in mind there is absolutely no suggestion of anything above 18C being reached out to the 21st in most places)

Crazy weather..
