T-Rex help

Post by phatplants »

The lower leaves on my potted t rex are blackening and dying off, is this normal? The newer leaves are ok. Was wondering whether the lack of sun and warmth has anything to do with it.

More likely lack of sufficient root space

Mine is doing okay in a pot :)

This plant will naturally shed its lower leaves as it grows during the season.

You say "blackened" mine go brown and crispy and then I pull them off. Are they really black and soggy?

i agree.............. they need LOTS of space, the roots spread metres away normally, so get it into a much bigger pot with some good loan based compost, mixed with a pelleted fetilizer, and keep it well watered

not too well watered. they die easily from over watering.

They will drop off their bottom leaves as they get bigger but, as others are saying, need good root space. I don't think it's overwatering, my 2 potted ones are outside in all the rain we've had and don't much care. One thing I've found will kill them is to be in a hot greenhouse, they prefer cool conditions and are better outside especially now that summer's finally here. I have a couple of extras should you lose yours so don't worry.
