Kris
Make sure you post a pic when yours is as big as that one in California, just get your grandkids to pull you out of the cryogenics tube.

It'll be that big in 60 years and I may be around to see it.
Re: Jubaea palm growing in unusual place
Kris I think the one at the top must be over 100 years old.
Phoenix canariensis_CIDP could get to that size in 60 years though.

Re: Jubaea palm growing in unusual place
Thats a huge Jubaea! I didnt realise that their crowns grew so large, it almost looks like a Phoenix canariensis_CIDP. I assume that the motel was built around what would have been a sizeable mature palm even back then.

That could be Kew in a few years. ( Don't know if they've moved there's yet)
Re: Jubaea palm growing in unusual place
I don't think one in Yorkshire would get that big in 100 years, let alone 60!

I said that tongue in cheek.

How do they water it? Earth floors in all the bedrooms, and no drainpipe from the washbasins??

Speaking of... nothing more was ever heard from that guy (Henry?) in Yorkshire that planted the massive trunking Jubaea several years ago?Nathan wrote:I don't think one in Yorkshire would get that big in 100 years, let alone 60!

I wonder what ones are still alive & how healthy they are? A very expensive lesson, hate to think how much he spent on those!Yorkshire Kris wrote:some are still alive, some are not....leunerj wrote: Speaking of... nothing more was ever heard from that guy (Henry?) in Yorkshire that planted the massive trunking Jubaea several years ago?
