english bamboo

what is the english bamboo that pretty much grows everywere in the uk.. not sure the name of it.

its the tall ones above 8ft, will a small clumb spread much? and send out shooters

No such thing as English Bamboo, most come from China :wink:

yep lol but what is the common one grown then that is almost wild..

I've never heard of a common wild bamboo in the UK.

one u see in woodlands etc. will grow anywere and spreads...

This might sound stupid and a longshot but from your description i was thinking you might be refering to Japanese Knotweed and confusing it with a bamboo down to its segmentation and somewhat similar appearance etc

Ive seen bamboo growing in many areas of west yorkshire. Pseudosasa I think.

I'd definitely say psuedosasa japonica. As common as dandelions down here

loads of pseudosasa japonica and other sasa's growing in the wild here,but as mr list says they dont have yellow canes. icon_scratch
