what is the english bamboo that pretty much grows everywere in the uk.. not sure the name of it.
its the tall ones above 8ft, will a small clumb spread much? and send out shooters

one u see in woodlands etc. will grow anywere and spreads...

This might sound stupid and a longshot but from your description i was thinking you might be refering to Japanese Knotweed and confusing it with a bamboo down to its segmentation and somewhat similar appearance etcparkeey wrote:one u see in woodlands etc. will grow anywere and spreads...

Ive seen bamboo growing in many areas of west yorkshire. Pseudosasa I think.

I'd definitely say psuedosasa japonica. As common as dandelions down here

loads of pseudosasa japonica and other sasa's growing in the wild here,but as mr list says they dont have yellow canes.
