The heat island effect is quite evident in the temperatures here in Central London compared to you guys who aren't that far away.Dave Brown wrote:No Ice day here as it has to be below freezing the whole 24 hours. Looks like we've had the latest ever ice-day here. Maximum temperature just -0.2c. Snow flurries kept going till mid-afternoon and blew around powder snow over frozen surfaces. Not a common occurence here even in January, but I never expected to see these conditions around a week away from April
Back in the freezer every week !

Re: Back in the freezer every week !
Got up to almost 5c here today and still reasonable at 1.6c now.
Of course, when I say reasonable I mean F***ing unreasonable.
Where's the bloody heat?

And after it gets warm it will get cold again anyway...Dave Brown wrote:From this pic the probability is of a warming after Good Friday as almost all runs show warmer than now, but it's not hard really, couldn't get much colder, could it

YAWN. yet more trolling.
This is the coldest March I've ever seen. But before that it's been a great winter for my garden with no superlow temps here. So because of this once in a life time March I should imigrate? No thanks

I think March 1963 was colder. For me it is the end of the 4th month well below the coldest month average. In fact March is just a continuation of Decemeber, January and February, with temps and light levels the same all the way through.
Best regards

Re: Back in the freezer every week !
LOL...I bet we will be able to keep this thread going well into June.
Obviously I really do hope that is not the case although every week as the weekend approaches I get more and more anxious watching the weather predictions get colder and colder and wetter or snowier in the case of last weekend.
I really don't mind the cold as long as I can still feel my fingers and toes. I have raynauds which means that when its cold, generally below 5c my fingers and toes stop working which makes gardening a challenge.
So here's hoping for a milder spell, 10c would be great but anywhere from 5c upwards would be great.
(I'm hoping a weatherman is going to see this and predict some good weather)

Re: Back in the freezer every week !
Still having cool days and freezing night Temperatures, I don't think this will end until May with how the weather is going
Re: Back in the freezer every week !
The 14 day forcast says that it will continue with cold easterly/northeasterly winds. So the antispringweather will continue.
Well fortunatly I will go to the Southern US next Monaday for 6 weeks. And back in May. So for me its goodby bloody winter!
And I will enjoy real spring in Florida among flowering Sarracenias!
