Saw a few culms starting to appear on my Fargesia rufa this evening :)

Phyllostachys bissettii starting to shoot today 2nd May 2013.

I have two Phyllo Nigras next to each other and between them they only have one culm 1" high showing and that hasn't moved for two weeks!!!

Count yourself lucky as my one doesn't have any! :P

I am still waiting to see movement on my bissetii and aureosulcata as well, sigh!

Tom, same here m8!, nigra is my slowest boo of all, done nothing for about 10 months, i'm wondering if it's because mine is in semi-shade?, I think out of all the phylly family this is one that thrives on daylight/heat. karl.

Same here Tom.

Then again my two aureosulcata have not moved and my three bissettii have only sent up one which is about one inch high.

My Borinda has one culm, my Semiarundinaria fastuosa has one culm, my Pseudosasa japonica has no culms and my Fargesia jiuzhaigo 1 has no culms.

It's a slow year for bamboos up here :(
