forum's gone dodgey

Everything looks back to normal at my end and posting txt seems fine, but i`ve not tried uploading any pics. If it`s taking over 2 minutes to upload a 26kb file though as Dave has just said then that`s an area that`s not working like it should or used to.

Right, we seem to have narrowed it down to something going a bit weird with the thumbnail creation using Imagemagick. I've disabled it to fall back to using GD (built into PHP) and it seems to be instant again.

Does everyone agree?

Imagemagick is a 3rd party image processing library, but is using by a lot of software and is the default in phpBB.

While we were testing and had imagemagik turned off it took me 2 seconds to upload a 120kb file, the same file took over 3 minutes with the 'default' imagemagick on. We'll leave it off for the time being until others have had a chance to say if improved. If this has fixed it, we will go back to the host with our findings.
Best regards
Dave

Fine by me, thanks!

The 'read' threads are still showing as 'unread', though.

The Image uploads seem to be rapid.

I shan't test another.

I've still got the error message after posting a text reply. (Still not logged out, so may still be the same Session ID as earlier).

As said before it doesn't seem to be causing any side effects, my message is there, and page redirects back to the thread by itself.

ATTACHED IMAGE UPLOADED IN JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS - THAT's FANTASTIC :)

Have you thrown away the CHAT function perhaps? but that link is still inclded in the eTechGreen skin that I am using?

Just notcied that CHAT at the top of every screen has blank brackets, here it used to show "Chat (0)" I think? it is not showing "Chat ()" so maybe that is failing just the same, but NOT showing any error, on the main screens?

I've never used CHAT so I , personally, wouldn't miss it :)

It hasn't been used for sometime, hence the decision to remove, as was complicating how we run forum registrations.

It does, but it used not to be necessary, they turned green automatically without any reload before
