Not sure what to make of this:

There are places for people like him. Unfortunately there are not many of these grand institutions left standing.

Why does all this crappe come out of the USA ? In the 70,s and 80, s the CIA had americans believing in UFO,s ,the string of propaganda from plausible sources ran on the media and they all believed in little green men. This has all the same hallmarks, endless string of plausible propaganda for the most gullible nation on earth, but why ?
In the 70,s and 80,s the CIA wanted to make the russians think their spyplanes were little green men, and it worked. What is their agenda this time ?

I am definitely a denier as I was an analyst using data sets to produce figures that the company used for forecasting. To accurately diagnose you need to gather relevant information, and are only allowed ONE ASSUMPTION. If you make TWO ASSUMPTIONs you are starting to guess.

Climate change zelots are gathering a few bits of information, and making an unknown amount of assumptions, then telling us they know the answer.

It is like 'Guess the weight of the cake' It's in a metal tin painted red, made from flour, butter and sugar. How heavy is it ?

oh it's 2kg of course, why would you doubt it  icon_scratch icon_scratch icon_scratch

I guess all these increasingly bad extremes of weather in the world are in my imagination then.

Seems very low to use a word like Nazi to attack people who hold a different opinion to you. I have an open mind about this kind of thing, undecided really. Although I believe that either way, investment in technologies that mean cleaner air is important for health and quality of life, particularly in big cities.

For some reason, it always seems in the world of Professionals (assuming here is a professional, and not a failed scientist), is that many of the older ones seem to make eye opening, blaze comments about people or things, that cannot be justified in society. Attacking someone or a group of people in that situation, suggests the pressure got too much for him at some point and he's let it all out as only humans know how. Well at least we known even scientists aren't immune from animal instinct.

Americans!!! he only calls the rest of us "Nazi's and denies that global warming exists as a pathetic excuse to carry on living his life the way he does without having to feel guilty for his part in the destruction of the environment. It is a poor cry out for attention and he refuses to wake up and smell the roses that he and every one of us are to blame. the article was quite laughable really. :D

Sorry, a completely brainwashed sort of comment. ......I've been told so many times, it must be true  Fact is they ignore anything that is not a statistic, so can only go by Ice cores further back than 100 or so years. What do ice cores tell us..... CO2 level, but completely ignore the thing that stops us being at -273°C.... The SUN.

There are a lot of other ways of determining climate change other than Ice cores, but if they don't point to man made climate change they are ignored.

Nigel, you'd have hated to have been around from the 11th to 13th Century then. Reports on storm damage point to it being equally or more stormy than now.

Dave aside from your thoughts of global warming, do you think the comment this man makes is a well thought out, normal response from a person, who clearly has no issues in life?

If this comment was made by a man in the same tone, but supporting global warming, he still would come across as an ill judged lunatic!

No I don't agree with the type of language, but sounds like someone who has had funding refused because he wont make

When your argument is failing a particularly unpleasant politician resorts to smearing , this guy has done the same thing, brought ugly politics into science. by smearing gw scientists as nazis he thinks he will win his argument because peopel dont want to be associated with nazis.

Dave, a very common misconception is this belief that sun cycles are linked to heat output , they are not. The suns heat output remains pretty much constant throughout solar cycles.

You make same mistake that many climate scientists make... you think you know everything already. Climate science is relatively new and like many new things, we know virtually nothing, but are learning. I have an open mind where as you seem to have made yours up on the scant evidence available.

I remember watching a Climate documentary on TV a few months ago where they spoke of a South American river's flow being linked to sun spot activity, so did some searches and below is what it was about.

http://physicsworld.com/cws/article/new ... river-flow

Solar activity could dictate river flow

Oct 29, 2008.

What do sunspots and the Paraná river in South America have in common? The answer, say physicists in Argentina, is that when the number of sunspots goes up, so does the river's level. Indeed, the correlation between the two is so strong that the physicists believe that solar activity could be used to predict when the Rio Paraná will flood.

Rising in southern Brazil and flowing through Paraguay and Argentina before reaching the Atlantic Ocean near Buenos Aires, the Paraná is the world’s fourth largest river in terms of water flow. Because much of the river is navigable and flows through heavily populated regions, its rate of flow has been recorded continuously since 1904.

Meanwhile, 149 million km away on the surface of the Sun, sunspots are dark areas that form at regions of intense magnetic activity. The number of sunspots rises and falls in an 11-year cycle and physicists know that the amount of radiation given off by the Sun (solar irradiance) is greatest when there are lots of sunspots.

Climate researchers have already found evidence that solar irradiance can affect Earth’s climate — boosting rainfall in the Asian monsoon, for example.

Now, though, Pablo Mauas and colleagues at the University of Buenos Aires and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology have shown that the Rio Paraná’s flow at Corrientes — about 900 km upstream from Buenos Aires — is strongly correlated to the number of sunspots visible on the surface of the sun at that time (Phys. Rev. Lett. 101 168501).
Three factors affect flow

The team analysed flow data from 1904–2003 and concluded that three factors have affected water levels on three different timescales. One is climate change, which Mauas believes has boosted the flow of the river by about 20% since 1904 — an increase that seems to have occurred mostly over the past 30 years. The team also found the Paraná was affected by el Niño — a climate oscillation in the South Pacific that usually occurs about once every five years. After removing both of these effects from the data the team found what Mauas calls a “striking correlation between the solar data and the stream flow”.

According to Mauas, the flow of a major river is good indicator of how much precipitation has fallen over its basin because — unlike other ways of measuring rainfall — it smoothes out local variations. Mauas believes that the increased rainfall could be caused by higher temperatures in tropical regions during periods of high solar irradiance. This, he believes causes greater evaporation in the tropics with this moist air transported southward to the Paraná basin.

The team is now working on a way to use sunspot number and the el Niño index, which quantifies the oscillation, to predict future water levels on the Paraná.

Ok, so in the image you can see global co2 levels for the last 400,000 years (as published by NASA) you can see a sharp decrease of co2 levels leading unto the last ice age (approximately 100,000 years ago) this is because a lot was locked up in the glaciers (ice) at the time. You can see the co2 levels started to rise again as the planet warmed naturally (technically we are still coming out of the last ice age). There is then a sharp increase as can be seen in the more recent history of man, i.e since we started clearing more forests, and burning more fuels. This is the highest co2 levels have been within the last 400,000 years and it has risen far too sharply to have happened naturally.

Sure this is a graph for co2 levels not global warming. However the main cause for global warming is the build up of co2 which causes the "Greenhouse" effect (increased amounts of co2 and other gas particles which means once the suns rays enter the earth they cannot penetrate back out, therefore the heat of these rays are kept within the earth). Im sure as a tropical gardener you have a greenhouse, this works exactly the same. Therefore anyone who believes having a greenhouse will increase the survival rates of your plants (through increased heat, because of the greenhouse effect) would surely be contradicting themselves in saying you do not believe in global warming. If you do not than i say this, remove your greenhouse, after all its just pointless if the theory is wrong. Plus you'll have more growing room.    TTFN, DPG.
