Palms near me

Post by lulak10 »

I took this pix about a month ago, but it's taken me a while to get my husband to send them to me as I took them on his phone.

These are all round where I live in Beckenham.

When summer ended they never got planted again.

No shortage whatsoever for trees here, its more your tubs and hanging baskets not palms. This is a woodland of trees and Bluebells.

Summer may see a palm tree, who knows how council gardeners work.

There's quite a lot round me - the pix of the larger ones, but quite a few gardens have smaller trachies.

I have seen some really nice ones in people's backgardens when I'm on the train into work, but I'll never be able to get pix of them!!!

Roger - I live in Beckenham, right up by the border with Lewisham. Most of those palms were in the Copers Cope/Kent House area. Whereabouts r u?

My local council has just planted phoenix canariensis in a local park.... it makes me really annoyed, council tax money wasted when they could buy palms that would be perfectly hardy.

I wish that the council would plant some palms of some description in my area, they don't even do it on the coast were CIDPs would be worth a go!
